Standard periodontal care involves oral hygiene education, subgingival instrumentation and periodic follow-ups with the aim of reducing soft tissue inflammation. Nonetheless, this therapy alone may fail due to the limitations of mechanical instrumentation and the aggressive nature of specific bacteria.

The adjunctive use of antimicrobials to debridement in severe or recurrent periodontal sites has been shown to enhance the effectiveness of periodontal care than subgingival instrumentation alone.

This webinar will address the following aims:

1. Outlining the principles of adjunctive interventions to subgingival instrumentations.

2. Providing an overview of the use of systemic and local anti-infective periodontal therapy.

3. Focus on key evidence-based recommendations alongside case presentations to illustrate.
