Dr. Birdi received his DMD with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. He then moved to Minnesota to pursue post-graduate specialty training at the University of Minnesota in both periodontics and prosthodontics. He is a Fellow and previous Examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology, and the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Birdi is one of the very few board certified dual specialists in periodontics and prosthodontics in North America, and the first specialist in the world to attain board certification in these two specialties in both the USA and Canada. Besides being a reviewer for the Journal of Oral Implantology, Clinical Advances in Periodontics, and the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants (JOMI), Dr. Birdi is also a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. As an adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and the University of Minnesota, he is involved in multiple dental implant research projects and clinical trials. He actively lectures both nationally and internationally in the fields of implant surgery and prosthetics, as well as esthetic dentistry. Dr. Birdi sits on the board of Western Society of Periodontology, Pacific Institute for Advanced Dental Education, and the Digital Dentistry Institute, which are learning centres for his fellow dentists. Currently, he practices at the BC Perio Dental Health & Implant Centres in Vancouver. His practice focuses on comprehensive periodontal and prosthetic treatment with a major focus on esthetics and implant dentistry.
